Japan's Major Banks to Launch Joint Stablecoin by 2027

Japan Banking Sector Embraces Stablecoin Infrastructure

Japan’s three largest financial institutions—MUFG Bank, Mizuho Bank, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation—have announced plans for a joint stablecoin issuance. The initiative aims to commence commercial operations by March 2027, utilizing a trust-based framework for corporate and cross-border settlements.

The project is formally supported by Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) and is being developed under the "FinTech Proof-of-Concept Hub." This development signifies a shift in Japan’s regulatory approach, positioning stablecoins as core settlement infrastructure rather than peripheral crypto-trading assets.

Bitcoin Technical Outlook

Unique stair-step trend trading with the Stairsteps Expert Advisor. Learn more.

Bitcoin faces key technical levels as it seeks to regain momentum. Bulls are targeting a return to $63,600, which would serve as a precursor to testing resistance at $65,800 and $67,700. A definitive breach of $67,700 is required to confirm a shift back to a bullish trend.

Conversely, failure to maintain support at $61,100 could trigger further downside pressure. A break below this level exposes the asset to potential drops toward $59,600, with a secondary support floor identified at $58,200.

Ethereum Technical Outlook

Ethereum’s price action remains sensitive to established support and resistance zones. Maintaining a hold above $1,645 is essential for bulls to target the $1,724 and $1,783 levels. A breakout above $1,783 would indicate a strengthening of bullish sentiment.

On the downside, buyers must defend the $1,563 support level to prevent further depreciation. A decline below this point may accelerate selling pressure toward $1,476, followed by a deeper test of the $1,401 support zone.

Chart Analysis Methodology

Current technical analysis utilizes moving averages to gauge market momentum. The 50-day (green), 100-day (blue), and 200-day (light green) moving averages are monitored for price tests or crossovers, which historically serve as critical points for trend exhaustion or continuation.
